“Black Velvet” is the original recipe. It is designed to dry super slow . It is a one trick pony black and likes to be painted dark to light with no overpaint. Fades beautifully and smooth. Really excels in paint situations like feathers or scales in the fact you can put down a whole section of black and then go back in for the fades before the paint drys. Goes on very glossy and dries very flat . Very readable paint :when to fade , are you putting it on to thin or thick, how dry is it? The Velvet will tell you. Will reactive with water but given a fair dry time and painting “into” rather than “over” should be no worry about”pick-up” to the experienced painter.
“Cobra Spit” no there is no real cobra spit in it. Or much anyway. Cobra is fan favorite. Very Neutral black not to warm not to cool. Very easy to control . Feels heavier on the brush and fades smooth and beautiful. “Cobra Spit “ works best putting your colors down first and painting your black over it.
“The Great Omi” my newest and favorite black. Great Omi has all the tricks. Dries faster than Velvet and is more of a paint fade paint fade rather than paint a whole section fade a whole section. Omi is thick and has a bit more of a “scrub out” feeling with the fade. Goes well over or under though I do prefer over as I find it to usually faster. When you need just a bit more black…. “Great Omi” . Black cans are vegan. Gold cans are honey .
“Darky Sharky Gray” is a darker cooler grey tone . Can either be used like opaque grey or a gray wash. Super smooth to paint with, you won’t be disappointed.
“Owl Gray” the lightest in the Gray vegan family. Works as an Opaque or a translucent gray. Don’t forget the Darky Sharky Grey too. Not much you can’t make with those two and some black. Best Watercolor paint money can buy. Paint the Flash get the cash. If you’re looking for “Tribal” or “B$G” Black look in the Honey section.
